Services

The Delivery Components of the UTAH MODEL
FOR The COMPREHENSIVE COUNSELING AND
GUIDANCE PROGRAM (CCGP) are:

Individual Planning

We complete a College and Career Readiness Plan with your child. This is a short meeting between your student, you, and the counselor to review and set personal, academic, and career goals. Although your attendance is completely voluntary, we would prefer to have you in attendance.

Guidance Curriculum

As school counselors, we assist students in developing basic life skills such as how to cope with difficult situations appropriately. As a district, we have adopted the “Building Resilience” model by Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg. This model focuses on the 7 C’s: Competence, Confidence, Connection, Character, Contribution, Coping and Control. We also focus on Conflict Resolution to better aid our students in solving their conflicts. Click here for further information on comprehensive guidance.

Responsive Services

The purpose of responsive services is to intervene on behalf of those students whose immediate personal concerns put their personal, social, and/or education development at risk. We generally receive our referrals from teachers, parents, and students. We work closely with our teachers and parents to assure that your child is performing up to their abilities. As school counselors our main focus is your child’s emotional and academic well-being. Sometimes other factors in life can dramatically affect school academics. While we are not clinical therapists and cannot provide therapy, we can provide you with referrals to these types of therapists, or provide some short-term, goal-oriented interviewing here at our school.

System Support

In addition to the above mentioned activities, we are also asked to provide other services and management activities which indirectly benefit our students. These include (but are not limited to):

  • Meeting with teachers to discuss struggling students
  • Participation in our school’s improvement
  • Plan and Leadership Team
  • Building the school schedule as well as each individual student’s schedule
  • Creating and maintaining support features such as our website

Utah Model for Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance Program (CCGP):

The counseling department follows the Utah Model for Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance Program (CCGP). The philosophy of the CCGP and a school counseling program is:

  • Comprehensive in scope
  • Preventative in design
  • Developmental in nature
  • Student centered
  • Conducted in collaboration
  • Driven by data
  • An integral part of the total education program
